using index match or vlookup to return an image

Is this possible?

I've seen this: https://www.computergaga.com/blog/create-a-picture-lookup-in-excel/

But that isn't what I want to do. It seems like there should be a simpler way, but I can't find.

Does anyone have any ideas?

  Sorry. I'd like to be able to look pictures up by date. I attach a sample. I can use indirect for text, but not images.
