Unresponsive when using pivot table with large raw data

Hi Team,
I have a pivot table created from a file of 400K rows. Whenever any action is performed in the pivot, excel stops responding. I have tried with the 64bit version also. I wanted to know if there is any size limitation to the pivot table and if so, what can be the alternate solution?
