Typing ö using US Int keyboard's standard right Alt+P wrongly deletes all contents of a cell
Same here. I also can't find the "Keyboard Shortcuts: Customize." option...
There are none. I guess they just silently removed it and forgot to update a million of help pages and AI databases to sync with it.
It's only ribbon and commands (as icons and text) and at the bottom there are settings, that's it. NO BUTTON CUSTOMIZATION.

It seems you are encountering an issue with typing the letter "ö" using the US International keyboard layout in Excel, which causes the contents of the cell to be deleted unexpectedly. Based on the descriptions you've shared, here's a comprehensive guide to help resolve the issue:
Steps to troubleshoot and fix the issue:
- Check Keyboard Layout:
- Ensure that your keyboard layout is set to "US International." Sometimes, changes in keyboard layouts or settings can cause unexpected behavior.
- On your Mac or Windows, double-check if you're using the correct input method for typing the "ö" character (Right Alt+P or Right Alt+O for US International).
- Check for Keyboard Shortcut Conflicts:
- There might be a conflict between the key combination for typing "ö" and an Excel shortcut.
- To check for shortcut conflicts in Excel:
- Go to File → Options.
- Select Customize Ribbon → Keyboard Shortcuts.
- Look for any shortcuts assigned to "P" or "O" that could be interfering with your input.
- Reset Excel’s Keyboard Shortcuts:
- If you cannot find specific conflicting shortcuts, you might want to try resetting all Excel keyboard shortcuts to their default settings:
- Right-click on the Ribbon and select Customize Ribbon.
- Click on Keyboard Shortcuts: Customize.
- Reset the shortcuts by clicking the Reset All button.
- Disable Add-ins or Macros:
- Check if any third-party add-ins or macros might be causing interference with your keyboard input.
- To disable add-ins:
- Go to File → Options → Add-Ins.
- Disable any active add-ins to see if the issue persists.
- Update or Repair Office:
- Ensure that your Office software is up to date. Sometimes, bugs like this can be resolved by installing the latest updates.
- To repair Office:
- Go to Control Panel → Programs and Features.
- Right-click on Microsoft Office and choose Repair.
- Reinstall Keyboard Drivers:
- If none of the above works, reinstalling your keyboard drivers might resolve the issue:
- Open Device Manager (Windows) or reset your keyboard preferences (Mac).
- Reinstall or reset the keyboard drivers to the default settings.
- Check Excel's Language Settings:
- Ensure that the language settings in Excel are configured correctly to avoid issues with typing special characters.
- Go to File → Options → Language and ensure that everything is set up correctly for your preferred language.
Further Steps:
If this issue appeared after a recent update or change in Excel or your system, it could be a temporary bug. The text and the steps were created with the help of AI.
