Typing ö using US Int keyboard's standard right Alt+P wrongly deletes all contents of a cell
Thanks for looking into this!
Unfortunately, resetting Windows keyboard had no effect.
For resetting default Excel shortcuts it was a bit unclear, as I don't find "Keyboard Shortcuts - Customize" options after going into "Customize Ribbon".
Could you navigate me further? Thanks!
I understand that you're experiencing an issue where typing the letter "ö" using the US International keyboard layout's right Alt+P (or right Alt+O) combination is causing Excel to delete the content of the cell. This issue might be related to specific keyboard settings or shortcuts within Excel. Here are some additional steps you can try:
- Check Keyboard Settings:
- Ensure that your keyboard layout is correctly set to "US International." Sometimes, changes in keyboard layouts or settings can lead to unexpected behavior.
- Keyboard Shortcut Conflict:
- It is possible that there is a conflict between the "Alt+P" (or "Alt+O") keyboard shortcut in Excel and the input method for typing "ö." Try the following steps to check for and resolve shortcut conflicts:
- In Excel, go to the "File" tab.
- Select "Options" to open the Excel Options dialog box.
- In the Excel Options dialog box, click on "Customize Ribbon" in the left pane.
- In the right pane, click on "Keyboard Shortcuts: Customize."
- In the "Categories" section, select "All Commands."
- Look for "P" (or "O") commands in the list and see if any are associated with the "Alt" key.
- If you find any, you can change or remove those shortcuts to prevent conflicts.
- Excel Add-ins or Macros:
- Check if any Excel add-ins or macros might be causing this behavior. Sometimes, third-party add-ins or macros can interfere with keyboard input.
- Update or Repair Office:
- Ensure that you have the latest updates installed for Office 365. Sometimes, updating or repairing Office can resolve unexpected behavior.
If none of these steps resolve the issue, it might be a specific problem with the interaction between your keyboard layout and Excel. In such cases, it could be a temporary bug, which I think Microsoft will already have noted (I am guessing since I am not a Microsoft employee). Otherwise, I am at my wits' end. Hope this will help you.

- In the "Categories" section, select "All Commands."
What are you talking about? There is no "All Commands".
I also have this issue in my newest Excel on the updated Windows 11.
Right Alt + P deletes the whole cell! There and only there, in Excel!!! It drives me NUTS. I was never so angry in my whole life.
