trigonometry functions not working the way I expect

I want the degrees of an angle given the Hypotenuse and the side opposite. The Hyp is 558.33 the side opp is 483.47 it is about 30 degrees. the formula I am using is =DEGREES(SINH(483.47/558.33)) but it returns 56 degrees. Can anyone tell me what I'm doing wrong?

  • So the function for this is ASIN() thanks for the help Jeff, you got me to look in the right direction.

SINH is not the inverse of the sine function but the hyperbolic sine function. Verify https://www.google.com/search?q=(hyperbolic+sine+(483.47%2F558.33))+rad+to+degrees.
