Stock Data Stockhistory blocked or no data connection?

The fix or issue has to do with server and authentication of online connected services.  The user of excel has to authorize connected services as that is a security risk whenever an outside computer can import or have access to local computer services or apps.

To change privacy settings to get connected ONLINE stock data services

1. Go to FILE

2. Go to OPTION  at bottom

3. Go to General

 SCROLL DOWN to PRIVACY Settings

there should be seperate privacy setting  bar

4.  check ALL the 'CONNECTED EXPERIENCES' options to allow excel to access online content like stock data quotes into local excel application.  including the EXPERIENCES that analyze your content.

5. Uncheck the the diagnostic data as Microsoft doesn't need your data on why it is not working. it's just bad design on GUI.

It should work after exiting excel and loggin back in.

Also go to  ACCOUNTS section on bottom after FILE

license switch to 365 office if you have other standalone 'license' from previous installation even if you've uninstalled it.

download any updates on the 365 office for latest updates.

and is well it was the updates that was causing issues

logout and restart app. and should work and people should not have to waste an hour figuring why it is not working and get stressed out about it. Tjhe service is sold as is where is and not for professional use. No professional will accept a service this buggy or flaky.  it's like carpenter still using manual screwdriver, crashes and bugs like this hinder your work performance and you lose money using a bad tool if the tool breaks down every few weeks, known as downtime. time is money and wasted time is wasting money,
