Split Cells in Excel 365

Hello,

I work with Office 365 ProPlus.

I would like to split some cells in an excel spreadsheet. I checked Help and online and the recommendation in here : https://support.office.com/en-gb/article/merge-or-split-cells-in-a-table-8b458deb-0fc5-4c8d-8d94-2d4da98193f8

 

However in my  speadsheet I cannot see Table Tools, the Layout tab,  and the Merge group to click Split Cells

I now think there is a definition issue, because I do not understand the advice there, either. When I open excel I see a spreadsheet. Is the spreadsheet the same as the table or PivotTable?

 

Regardless, I would appreciate if someone can guide me through on how to split a cell in my Excel spreadsheet.

    CTheodlos That guidance is for tables in Word.  Excel cells can't be split.  You can merge them, but not split them.

      I have the exact same problem in trying to split cells. I would swear there was a tab on my IBM based computer. But, I am working on a MAC now and there is no layout tab for the cells nor an offer to split them. How can this be?
