SImple Pivot Table Question

I apologize if this is too basic a question, I'm a novice with Pivot Tables.

In a simple pivot table with Value Fields and Row Fields, and the Value Fields are Dates, how would I sort the Dates further into Quarters (so , dates in the range of 1/1/2018 through 3/30/2018 are 2018-Q1, 4/1/2018 through 6/30/2018 are 2018-Q2, etc.)?

You can do one thing. Create one more column where quarters are written already e.g. Q1 Q2 and so on. Then create the pivot . It should work.

If you had shared the file, it would have been better.

    Ref for pivot tables.

Thank you gyankosh , and thank you for the link.
I ended up pulling out the Quarters manually

ShochuTaka It sounds like your dates are really just additional row labels.  Add them to the Row Labels field.  You might need to go to the menus and change to Tabular layout and turn off subtotals to get it looking right.  Then you can just right click on a date and Group to group in the way you talk about.

Savia thank you for your response. I'm not sure I understand. Would I create subtotals by quarter in my original table? Right now I have a "Date" column with individual dates (Jan 3, 2018, Jan 7, 2018, March 15, 2018, September 9, 2018, etc.)
