Sharing Workbooks

I know shared workbooks are shared with a link but where can editors locate the shared file? Is it permanently stored in their drives on their desktops?

Do you know if this location can be on a desktop drive or does it have to be on the onedrive browser?

If you are using the OneDrive service, it appears on your desktop/laptop as another directory or folder. It just so happens that the files in it are actually "in the cloud." And you can also access such files via a browser.
