Saving a csv file

I am importing a *.csv file from our inventory programme and it comes through into excel formatted as csv.  However, when I 'save' it or 'save as' to change the location, excel is changing the format to a Unicode Text *.txt format.  Is there a way to have the file automatically keep the same *.csv format when saving it?
