Resizing an Excel Window
I cannot resize an excel window. It is either full screen or a small rectangle with 3 symbols on it.
How does one achieve a size in between these extremes?
This question has been posed before but the replies make no sense.
One prior answer (2023) suggests dragging the maximized window to the edge of the screen. But it's already at the edge of the screen in full screen! What am I missing?
Thanks very much.

Any chance on this:
- Use the Restore Down Button
- If Excel is maximized, click the middle button in the top-right corner (between minimize and close).
- This should restore it to a resizable window.
- Then, drag the edges or corners to your preferred size.
- Manually Resize from the Taskbar
- Hold Shift, then right-click the Excel icon on the taskbar.
- Select Move.
- Use your arrow keys to bring the window into view if it’s off-screen.
- Once visible, drag the edges to resize.
- Resize and Close to Save the Size
- Resize the Excel window manually (don’t maximize).
- Then hold Ctrl and click the X (close) button.
- This can help Windows remember your preferred size next time.
- Check Compatibility Settings
- Right-click the Excel shortcut or executable.
- Go to Properties > Compatibility.
- Make sure “Run this program in compatibility mode” is unchecked.
- Disable Hardware Graphics Acceleration
- Open Excel → Go to File > Options > Advanced.
- Scroll to Display.
- Check “Disable hardware graphics acceleration”.
- Restart Excel.

P.S. Using Windows 11 and latest Excel.

1. If I do this, all I get is the small rectangular box. No window.
2. The "move" selection is greyed out.
4. Please provide more info on point 4. I can't find items mentioned.
5. No indication of “Disable hardware graphics acceleration” in Display options.
Thanks, Kerry
