One more thing. If sum is less than say 250, then both group 1 and 2 will be highlighted or only group 2?

ShishirKumar Well, it's not me who needs help. I had already offered, what I believe to be a working solution. It requires only one CF rule for the example in the file I uploaded. It's up to CDMWK40 to apply it to real data and come back if it doesn't work.
Don't understand why you provide a more complicated solution that achieves exactly the same as mine.
