Sorry for not getting back, I'm still trying to arrange a remote session (family member lives interstate).
What I can tell you right now is that when one of the Excel files from the Documents folder is copied (using Windows Explorer) to the new location, it opens correctly and can be edited and saved.
When this revised document is copied (again using Windows Explorer) back to the original Documents folder then the problem reappears.
