Knowledge of Excel version and the operating system is a must have if you want to proposing a reasonable solution (Example: office version e.g. 2016 or 2019 or 365 web or 365 pro, etc) and your operating system (e.g. Win10 (2004), Win 10 (1903), Mac, etc.).

    Rename legend entries

The legend can be renamed in Excel in a few steps.

To do this, proceed as follows. Open your Excel document and click on your chart.

In the upper bar you will find the "Diagram Tools".

    Click on the "Design" tab.

In the "Data" group, click the "Select Data" button.

In the left window you will find the legend entries.

Click on an entry and select "Edit".

You can now rename the entry under "Row name".

    Change the horizontal axis label

If your values are not displayed as legend entries but as horizontal axis labels, you have to proceed differently.

Open your Excel document and click on your chart.

In the upper bar you will find the "Diagram Tools".

Click on the "Design" tab. In the "Data" group, click the "Select data" button.

In the right window you will find the "Horizontal axis label".

Click on "Edit". Now enter your desired names or values for the legend.

Separate multiple entries with a semicolon.

    Finally, click OK".

Hope I was able to help you.
