Python in Excel
Python in Excel requires:
- Excel for Windows or Mac (not web version)
- Microsoft 365 Subscription (not one-time purchase)
- One of these licenses:
Microsoft 365 E5
Microsoft 365 Business Standard
Office 365 E3/E5
Microsoft 365 Apps for enterprise
- Version 2308 or later of Excel
To resolve the issue of Python not appearing in Excel despite, try to follow these steps…
Check Your Excel Version
Look for "About Excel" - ensure you're on version 2308 or newer
Click "Update Options" → "Update Now" if needed
See "Insert Python" button in the ribbon
If You Don't See It…
Check Add-ins
Clear Office Cache
Try to…
Open Excel
In any cell, type exactly: =PY(
If Python is available, you should see a prompt to enable it
Python in Excel is still rolling out, so some users might get access later than others even with eligible licenses.

available in Excel for Web
available for Enterprise and Business users both on Windows and Web (not sure about Mac), I guess on all channels starting from semi-annual
moreover, it's available on consumer subscriptions
At least I could confirm that have it on Family subscription.

Sergei thanks for the info, I didn't research the exact status beforehand, my mistake.
I only researched online and found that there are still some topics regarding Python in Excel. Anyway, thanks for the information and clarification.
Info: Some users report that Python in Excel was initially available, but then suddenly stopped working (reddit.com).
Even after rollout, some users still experience unstable or inconsistent availability.
Overall, it’s encouraging to see Python integrated into Excel, and I look forward to exploring its capabilities as it continues to roll out and stabilize.
