protecting my files from web users
I am trying to find the best way to protect my Excel files from users on the web. I know how to protect them from users on my computer in my office but what about the world wide web. For example, StrangerDanger123 from somewhere across the world finds my file and wants to open it, what is the best way to protect it?
- Patrick2788Silver ContributorThe strongest security I've seen is Information Rights Management (IRM).

The security within Excel has limits. The password to open the workbook is encrypted but sheet level and workbook level protection are added through XML (If you know where to go it can be removed quickly). Digital Rights Management (DRM) applied to files in a SharePoint doc library is also very strong, if available with your organizaiton.
