I have the exact same behaviour. This is due to an annoying and known problem of Excel where scrolling using your touch pad causes problems. If you scroll using a regular mouse (or use page-up or down or click and drag the scroll bar) the problem does not exist. Sometimes updating your touchpad driver resolves the issue. For me it didn't help because I already have the latest driver.
