Printing row/column numbers

I've set a worksheet to print column and row headers (ie numbers down the side and letters at the top). However when I do that, it automatically puts borders around those cells (and the whole worksheet) and emboldens them. I thought maybe it was picking up formatting from my worksheet but having deleted everything I can think of, it makes no difference. Has anyone come across this before?
