Previous use of F4 in older Excel Versions

I used to use the F4 key to repeat certain format.  I cannot do that in the current Excel.

    The F4 shortcut key still works..

    If your system laptop or computer has UK settings, you will need to press Fn key and press F4 to apply the shortcut

    Or if you're using US keyboard settings, all you need to do is press F4...

    It should work...

      Abiola1  doesn't work for Excel 2019. If i want to F4 to repeat a fill or text coloring, it won't let me. I have a desktop, and no Fn key to speak of, so that's definitely not it. Excel 2013/16 definitely didn't have this terrible oversight.

    Hello the_real_MikeK,

     

    I am not sure why repeating formats does not work with F4. However, you may double-click the format painter to apply a format to any number of cells (when finished press Esc). Alternatively, you may use the shortcut Alt + H + F + P
