Power query-web query

I'm trying to connect excel using get and transform-web query
when excel asks credentials, I use my user name and password, but I have an error message " we couldn’t authenticate with the credentials provided".
when I directly integrate with excel (without power query)-using the “from web” tool, excel accepts my username and password. but this doesn't allow me to use the query editor, which I need.
Please help!
