Pictures integrated in a list- not visible- error code #UNKNOWN!
- Jul 24, 2024
Verify how the images are embedded in the list:
Linked Images: If images are linked (rather than embedded), ensure that the links are accessible. If the source of the images is not available or has moved, it could result in the #UNKNOWN! error.
Embedded Images: If images are embedded, confirm that they are properly inserted. Sometimes re-embedding the images might resolve issues.
Ensure that Excel’s view settings are correctly configured:
Enable Drawing Objects:
- Go to Excel > Preferences > View.
- Ensure that Show drawings and text boxes on screen is checked.
Check Display Settings:
- Sometimes, display issues might cause images not to appear correctly. Make sure that the display settings are set correctly under Excel > Preferences > View.
Sometimes, clearing the Excel cache might help resolve display issues:
Clear Cache:
- Quit Excel.
- Go to ~/Library/Containers/com.microsoft.Excel/Data/Library/Preferences/ and delete the com.microsoft.Excel.plist file.
- Restart Excel and see if the issue is resolved.
Check Excel Add-Ins
Add-ins might interfere with how content is displayed:
Disable Add-Ins:
- Go to Tools > Excel Add-ins and disable any add-ins.
- Restart Excel and check if the issue persists.
Try Safe Mode
Starting Excel in Safe Mode might help:
Start Excel in Safe Mode:
- Hold the Shift key while launching Excel to start it in Safe Mode.
