Percentages

Hey everyone, my name is Kael and I am new to the community. I am looking for some help converting percentages from raw data in Excel. I keep pressing the percentage button, but I still have a higher percentage point than what I should be getting. For example, a cell contains 50 but when I convert it it goes to 5000%. How do I solve this problem?
