Pasword protection for read-only
You can protect your Excel file with a password for read-only access by following these steps:
- Open the Excel file you want to protect.
- Click on the File tab and select Save As.
- In the Save As dialog box, click on the Tools button in the bottom right corner and select General Options.
- In the General Options dialog box, enter a password in the Password to modify field and click OK.
- Save the file.
Now, when someone tries to open the file, they will be prompted to enter a password. If they enter the correct password, they will be able to edit the file. If they do not enter a password or enter an incorrect password, they will only be able to open the file in read-only mode.
There are also approaches with VBA, but these also depend on the digital environment and it is a chapter in itself.
Unfortunately, there is no 100% protection, everything depends on the time and available resources in material/money and manpower.
It's important to note that while password protection can help prevent unauthorized access, it is not foolproof and should not be relied upon as the sole means of protecting sensitive information.
I hope this helps!
