page numbering of multiple worksheets

Hi, I have a number of worksheets for which i have set up the page and pages in the footer but i want to exclude the first page from the calculation. I have deleted the footer reference to omit from the first page but then on the second worksheet it starts at page 1 of 19, but as the first page is excluded should read page 1 of 18. Any ideas how to get it to only focus on the pages with the footer rather than the whole number of pages including the cover? i.e. the final page says page 18 of 19!
