Office 365 Home - Excel

I have just downloaded Office 365 Home version.

When I attempted to use Excel for the first time I was asked to log in to my Microsoft account.

I did this and Excel attempted to open. It has been 'spinning' and saying 'Activating' for a considerable time now. I am unable to get it to close or quit.

Any suggestions welcome.
