    On a Mac myself. Select the axis, then "Format axis". A dialogue box should appear as indicated in the picture below. From there, you can change the settings.

      How did you get the axis options box? I only have Options, Tick marks, and Number

        Must admit that I'm no charting expert but found where "bins" are in Excel for Mac when creating a histogram. Perhaps the attached picture helps. The bins came up under "Format Data Series".

    If we speak about Histogram, on Windows you may double click on X-axis and change number number of bins in right pane. Most probably the same is for Mac.

      This is not the case, there is no option on the side bar to even look at anything related to bins, including width or number
