Need help with making a spreadsheet
I need help making a spreadsheet that I can keep track of students driving. The kicker is I will be entering info while the students are taking turns driving so I am trying to make entering the time as easy as possible. I will be rounding the start and end times to the nearest 15 minute increment ( starting to drive at 8:39 will be entered as 8:45, but I only want to have to type 845 in the cell) So it would look like this:
Start Time: 8:45
End Time: 9:00
Then I want a cell to calculate the difference and display 15 (15 minutes, quarter of an hour)
Start Time: 8:45
End Time: 9:00 15
Then in another cell I also want it to display .25 (quarter of an hour in decimal form)
Start Time: 8:45
End Time: 9:00 15 .25
Can someone help me with these formulas? I'm having a difficult time figuring them out. Thanks in advance!

Not knowing the bigger picture--how you'll use the end result, for example--it's hard to know for sure what to recommend. As a person who prefers precision--something at which Excel excels--I find myself wanting to question your approach before going any further.
For example, since you're in effect entering "false data" why bother entering time at all? Why not just enter .25 or .5 or .75 and be done with it? Do you really need a start time and end time? What are you actually tracking, when you get right down to it?
