Actually, yes I do. Some headings are frozen as well as some left columns.
Good thought, Rachel! Hadn't occurred to me. I think I'll tinker with removing all freezes and see what happens. I can always reset them. I'm dubious about it being a problem source but you never know.

- Problem is fixed! Complex freeze panes can interfere with cursor/pointer movement, maybe with bad effect. (Such as diverting the tabbing to the ribbon.)
Kudos and a tip of the hat to Rachel for suggesting that freeze panes might have a bearing on this. They did.
