more conditional formatting help

How do I copy conditional formatting in the instance where I need the numbers in each individual row in the far right column to highlight if the number is greater than (or less than) the number in the left column next to it? I know how to do it in a single row but how do I do this for a large amount of rows? I have attached an example but have not figured out this conditional formatting. I also need to be able to do this in large data sets.

Example attached

  • Hi Noel,

Your example has links on external files, thus doesn''t work.

In general, if you have the proper formatting rule for one row you may apply it to all rows you have, only be sure what in the rule formula you use relative references for row numbers (e.g. $H5, not $H$5).

Thank you Sergei, What steps would I take to copy that formatting down the rest of the rows? I did not have any locks($) on the cells
      • Simplest way in "Apply To" to change, for example $A$5:$H$5 on $A$5:$H$100 (other word one row on entire your range).

Alternatively Format painter works with Conditional formatting as with any other formatting.
