Merging cells and framing them - error? Excel to word
Hi guys,
I very often use cell framing and merging in order to create a table in certain standards and then pasting it to Word.
Since few months (maybe some kind of update I've missed?) it broke. The bottom frame is removed when moved from excel to word, on the part that was merged. Examples below:
In excel before pasting to Word:
In Word:
Now previously it worked perfectly fine, I don't know what happened. I didn't do any amendmends to settings or anything. It's kinda pain in the ass to change it manually everytime.
If anyone knows what might cause the error, please advise. Excel 2016.
thanks!
Hi Piotr,
I could be wrong since avoid cells merging in Excel but that's not new issue. Playing with Smart copy/paste in Word options doesn't help.
For my knowledge that could be two workarounds
1) Format bottom border of merged cell, but line in between two cells. In your case if you select merged cell with Var and next down to it, when format the border in between these cells, when copy/paste works.
2) Another way is to create custom cell style and apply it to merged cells. Stay on, for example, merged cell with Var, in Ribbon->Styles select New Cell Style and in Format add top and bottom borders to the cell. Save the style and apply to the cell with Var and other merged cells where applicable. Copy/paste to Word works correctly now.
