- ExcelonlineadvisorIron ContributorHere are some steps you can take to try and resolve the issue:
Check for Updates: Make sure your Microsoft Office applications are up to date. Sometimes, updates include fixes for performance issues and bugs.
Disable Add-ins: Third-party add-ins can sometimes cause compatibility issues with Excel. Try disabling any add-ins you have installed and see if that improves performance. You can do this by going to File > Options > Add-Ins.
Repair Office Installation: If you haven't already, try repairing your Office installation. Go to Control Panel > Programs > Programs and Features, find Microsoft Office in the list, and then select "Repair."
Clear Temporary Files: Temporary files and cache data can sometimes cause performance issues. Try clearing the temporary files on your computer using tools like Disk Cleanup or CCleaner.
Check for System Updates: Make sure your operating system is up to date. Updates to Windows or macOS can sometimes resolve compatibility issues with Office applications.
Test in Safe Mode: Try opening Excel in Safe Mode to see if the issue persists. To do this, press and hold the Ctrl key while opening Excel. If Excel opens normally in Safe Mode, it may indicate that an add-in or customization is causing the problem.
Create a New User Profile: Sometimes, issues can be related to corrupt user profiles. Try creating a new user profile on your computer and see if Excel works correctly in the new profile.
