linking to another excel file on my server
File A has data linked to another excel file B on my server. When ever I save file B under another name call it file C my data links are now set to File C and I want them to remain on file B. I...
Instead of renaming the source file (from B to C), move the source file (file B) to a different folder.

Hi Jeff,
Using File --> Save As to make a copy of the source workbook results in external references in the dependent workbook to pick up the name of the newly made source workbook.
You can get rid of this by simply making a copy of the source workbook using CTRL + C, and the renaming it by double clicking the file name or pressing F2; instead of using File --> Save As to rename the workbook.
Or you can use the earlier solution: moving the source workbook to a different folder.
