linking excel workbooks in the same SharePoint

In general it shall work on 365, both for business and consumer subscriptions. If you are on business one, perhaps that's semi-annual channel and functionality is not available, not sure.
Another point, if you copy something in one workbook and paste into another (assuming link is available) it could take time to return pasted value.
In any case you may sent a frown to Microsoft with Help->Feedback->I don't like something.
