To create a clickable link in an Excel file stored on SharePoint that navigates to another Excel file also stored on SharePoint, follow these steps using Excel for the Web:
Step 1: Get the SharePoint URL of the Target Excel File
- Navigate to the Target Excel File on SharePoint.
- Right-click on the file and select Copy link.
- Copy the URL that appears (this is the direct link to the file).
Step 2: Insert the Link in the Source Excel File
- Open the Source Excel File on SharePoint using Excel for the Web.
- Select Cell A1 (or any other cell where you want the link).
- Right-click on the cell and select Link (or go to the Insert tab and choose Link).
- In the Insert Link dialog box:
- Text to display: Enter the text you want to display in the cell (e.g., "Open Target File").
- Address: Paste the URL you copied earlier.
- Click OK to insert the hyperlink.
Step 3: Test the Link
- Click on the cell (e.g., A1) where you inserted the link.
- The link should navigate to the target Excel file stored on SharePoint.
Notes:
- Ensure that both files have the necessary permissions set up so that users can access the target file when clicking the link.
- This method works seamlessly in Excel for the Web, and the hyperlink will be functional across all devices where SharePoint and Excel for the Web are accessible.
By following these steps, you can create an easy navigation link between two Excel files on SharePoint. The text was created with the help of AI.
