is there a way that we can refresh a pivot table or external data connections on a protected sheet?

I believe the solution is to create a macro that includes the code to refresh the Pivot Table. I have added "Developer" to my Excel ribbon which allows one to select VBA settings where you can insert pivot table code. I now looking for the pivot table code to use. If anyone has this code please let me know. I hope this helps,
