Is Excel the right program for what I seek to achieve?

Imagine, an excel listing of client names and addresses and the sort of information you'd find on a delivery note. Say you've got fifty different sets of info for 50 delivery notes.

Imagine a delivery template with empty fields.

I'm trying to engineer the speeding up of getting client's info (they send by e mail) onto my template delivery note to cut down or cut out cutting and pasting.

I know how to link data using the = sign to one cell on another listing but that would only give you the makings of one delivery note. Would it be viable to have a blank template in tabbed worksheets and link the data that way ?  Am I thinking along the right lines?

These delivery schedules only come up say three times a year, so aren't a daily thing that runs into thousands.  i'm just trying to get the mechanics of it in my head and establish too, if Excel is an appropriate program.

Any simply worded guidance would be greatly appreciated.

    Hi,

Assuming I understand what you are after, yes this is quite doable.

What do you do you need to do with the delivery notes when they are filled in? Print? Save as .pdf? Save as a separate Excel file?

Can you post a sanitized/generic version of what you'd be after for the delivery note as well as how your client list with the addresses and such is formatted (Or are you looking to pull that info right out of Outlook? That is a fair bit trickier than if we have an existing list with all of the client info)

I will post a pdf of a note.  It's very straightforward on the note. In the main we deliver gaming machines on timed delivery, so it's address, date, client and time.

It's just that our client sends an excel listing with a lot at a time on and we just cut and paste which is slow and laborious.

      THis will be tomorrow now.

If you send us an example of the delivery note, we can arrange a perfectly doable thing.

I imagine a table with the list of the client AND all other info, then another sheet with a good graphic, comments, detail etc and blank cells that auto-fills with the client you're looking for.

It's a VLOOKUP thing, you just have to be patient in setting the blank "mask". Then is a lullaby.
