Insert a row
Hello, I want to insert a row in Excel to shift the existing data downward, but an error message prevents me from doing so, stating that non-empty cells would be pushed off the edge of the worksheet...

That error usually shows up when Excel thinks the sheet is “used” much farther down than your real data.
The first thing I’d check is Ctrl+End. If it jumps way below your actual table, Excel is probably seeing old content or formatting down there.
What normally fixes it for me is:
1. Go to the first completely unused row under your real data and select all rows below it.
2. Do the same for unused columns to the right.
3. Home > Clear > Clear All
4. Save, close, and reopen the workbook
5. Then try inserting the row again
If your data is inside an Excel Table, try inserting a Table Row instead of a full sheet row.
If you want, send a screenshot of where Ctrl+End lands. That usually tells the story pretty quickly.
