In Excel, the Long Date formatting does not display the day of the week.

The Long Date formatting does not display the day of the week. I formatted the Long Date by creating a custom date format, and it displayed the day of the week with the long date format in the cell. The issue is when going back to the format cells box, clicking the Number tap, in the category list, clicking Date, under Type, it still only displays the month, the date of the month, and the year, without the day of the week. How to display the day of the week in the Long Date format by choosing Long Date in the format cells box rather than by creating a custom date format?

When you select Long Date from the Number Format dropdown on the Home tab of the ribbon, Excel applies the format specified as Long date in Control Panel > Region > Additional settings... > Date tab:

If you specify this to include the day of the week, Excel will include it too:

Thank you for the instruction of the long Date format. The Excel version I use is Microsoft 365, and I tried to format the date which was similar to your instruction, but the day of the week was still missed.
