Import live data from website with 2 layer authentication
I am just a beginner in trading and my data is very small (hardly 20 lines of data)... 😄
But what I am looking for is to pull live data from my trading app (Kite) automatically into tracking spreadsheet
My app does have an option to download the data in .csv/.xlsx format and till now I have been using that.
But to get latest data every time, I need to download it every time and push it to my tracking spreadsheet. So I thought of having some sort of "simple" automation in place, if possible, to pull it and set the refresh time to every 30sec or so.
As of now, when I import using "From Web (Legacy)" option, it shows below message in excel:
"We're sorry but kite doesn't work properly without JavaScript enabled. Please enable it to continue."
I see the JavaScript is enabled and I am not sure how to get rid of that error...
On a lighter note: I am trying to learn more excel operations (especially linking excel with online data) as well along with this..It will come handy in my actual profession!!! 😄

Two thoughts (realizing as I write that you may have already done this)
- DISABLE JavaScript and then re-enable it. [I do find from time to time that plug-ins, add-ons and the like can get stuck, for whatever reason, so that's a version of Unplug and plug in again, or re-boot]
- If this is in a given browser, try a different browser. [There are a few things that seem to work only in Google Chrome, or only in Firefox, etc.]

Do you really need to refresh that frequently? I assume you're getting real-time data when you DO download, but unless you're doing day-trading, although it might be fun to be getting frequent re-fresh, is it really value added?
In my case, Active Trader Pro is real-time (every trade in any given stock/ETF changes the numbers I'm seeing). So if I'm contemplating a trade, after analyzing the particulars on my spreadsheet, I can be setting limit orders and monitoring the bid-ask prices there on the ATP app (on a laptop or desktop). My spreadsheet is just for analyzing (what-if?) and tracking (how have various positions improved or declined) and for that I really don't need minute by minute (to say nothing of split-second) updates.
On the other hand, I just looked briefly at some info on Kite, and see they mention having a number of APIs on which you can build your own apps. So it also occurs to me that there must be a community somewhere, just like this one for Excel (and other Microsoft applications) where you could post your question and maybe get a response from someone who has already done what you want to do from that other end of things. Go probe around a bit; see what you can find. Best wishes.
