I only want to import web data for exchange rates. HOW?
Ok I'm going in circles. I've checked a few tutorials to no avail. I'll spare you the details but I will say the crux of the issue seems to be I don't have same buttons/options as suggested on the tutorials. Also different tutorials are unhelpful for various reasons. Such as MS help articles meandering way off topic and being too technical for such a simple thing.
So how can I import currency exchange rate data from a website when the following is the case:
- there is no currencies data type under data tab
- when I click get external data > from HTML, instead of letting me type in a URL, it forces me to choose a local file from my own computer
As you can see there is no ability to get data from web:

- JKPieterseSilver ContributorI'm afraid Excel for Mac lags behind on the Data importing features. Very recently, MSFT announced a mayor update to Power Query (that is the software that offers the Get Data capabilities)) for Excel for Mac, bringing it a lot closer to what Windows offers. But we're not entirely there yet.

Finally, someone says it. Thank you JKPieterse it’s not your fault, but how pathetic and unbelievable that is to be the case in 2023. It’s a basic necessity. Another reason of dozens to cancel my 365 subscription, which I just did. All the tutorials and articles didn’t even have the courtesy to say this up front!! All that time wasted. I hate Microsoft.
- JKPieterseSilver ContributorSorry to hear your resentment. Excel for Mac has seen some serious upgrades as of late and they are working hard to have it catch up with Windows Excel. This last addition is a very big leap and I think it will help bringing it closer faster.
