I need help with cell referencing
You have to editing the cell, either in the formula bar or in the cell itself.
Select one cell reference (such as K2) or one range reference (such as M3:M24) within the formula, and nothing else.
Then press F4. Each press will change the reference. For example, K2 will become $K$2, then K$2, next $K2, and finally K2 again.

Thanks for getting back to me, but I've already tried what you're suggesting and nothing happens, that's why I'm asking is F4 the only key you have to press, or do you have to hit Control+**bleep** and F4, or something else? Am I hitting the wrong function key or something? I'm hitting the function keys at the top of the keyboard.

Does your keyboard have a Fn or fn key? If present, it is usually located next to the left-hand Ctrl key.
Try pressing Fn+F4.
