I can't swipe sheets with two fingers in Excel. Something is wrong.

Dear Experts,

System: Windows 11. I can't swipe sheets with two fingers in Excel 2021. Something is wrong.
When I move the sheets of the workbook to the right or left with two fingers on the touchpad, as soon as I lift my fingers off the touchpad, the sheet returns to its original position. I don’t understand why this is happening.

This situation makes it difficult to select the required sheet.

Initial state:

I scroll through pages with two fingers using the touchpad and select the required sheet:

After selecting the required sheet, as soon as I lifted my fingers off the touchpad, the sheets returned to their initial state:

You can test if the issue is specific to the touchpad by connecting an external mouse. Check if you can effectively switch sheets using the mouse. If it works, the issue might be with the touchpad itself.

  • 1. Check touchpad settings
Open Windows Settings → Devices → Trackpad
Ensure that the “two-finger swipe” feature is enabled
Check that Excel is set as an exception application for trackpad gestures.
    2. Excel Options Adjustment
     Action:
Open Excel → File → Options → Advanced
    Check the box:
    “Enable touch mode”
    “Allow trackpad gestures”
    Restart Excel
    3. Fix the driver problem
     Update the touchpad driver:
Right click on the start menu → Device Manager
Expand “Human Interface Devices” → find the trackpad driver.
    Right click → “Update Driver”.
    4. Temporary alternatives
    Shortcut keys to switch worksheets:
    Ctrl + PageUp / Ctrl + PageDown
or right-click the sheet tab → select the target sheet

      Thank you very much, but

      1. “Two-finger swipe” feature is already enabled
      2. These settings are not available, because my notebook's screen is not touch-sensitive.
      3. The touchpad driver is Synaptics TPFHID Device. This driver is the latest version.
      4. The sensor device works very well. It works well in other programs and browsers than excel. It works well in excel too, but there is the above problem when selecting excel sheets. I can't find a solution to this problem. Even after completely uninstalling and reinstalling Microsoft Office programs, this problem was not solved.
