hyperlinks

Spoiler
In an Excel file 2 hyperlinks: one via insert Hyperlink and one with the HYPERLINK function, both to the same JPG file. First works (but after reinstalling Excel it asks for  additional authorization), second link does not work. Only once I've used the first link, the second work. (I use Excel for MAC v16.83) Reinstalled in Application number 7038182191

It sounds like you're encountering issues with hyperlinks in Excel for Mac, particularly when using the HYPERLINK function. Here are a few steps you can take to troubleshoot this problem:

    1. Verify File Path: Ensure that the file path specified in the HYPERLINK function is correct. Any small mistake in the file path can cause the hyperlink not to work.
    2. Check Permissions: Make sure that the file you're linking to has the appropriate permissions set to allow access. If the file is located in a restricted directory or has restricted permissions, it may prevent Excel from accessing it.
    3. Test in Different Environment: Try testing the hyperlinks on a different computer or in a different Excel environment (e.g., Excel for Windows) to see if the issue persists. This can help determine if the problem is specific to your Excel installation or if it's a more general issue.
    4. Update Excel: Ensure that you're using the latest version of Excel for Mac. Microsoft regularly releases updates that include bug fixes and improvements, so updating to the latest version may resolve the issue.
    5. Reset Excel Preferences: Sometimes, corrupted preferences or settings can cause unexpected behavior in Excel. You can try resetting Excel preferences to their default settings to see if that resolves the issue.

Regarding the authorization prompt you mentioned after reinstalling Excel, it's possible that Excel is asking for permission to access the file or directory where the JPG file is located. Make sure to grant the necessary permissions to Excel to access the file. If the prompt continues to appear even after granting permissions, it may be related to Excel's security settings or macOS permissions settings, and further investigation may be needed.
