As SergeiBaklan suggests, my comments were specific to desktop versions of Excel in which shapes are layered in front of the grid rather than being part of it. The same would apply to the Excel tutorials you have studied.

I thank you both for your answers; I do think you are right. I had the naivety to think that the possibilities were identical on the web and with the software!
Well, I'll do without 😀. But if someone has another solution, I'm interested.
