How to create a data column that changes with dropdown box menu

Hey all

really struggling to find out how to create a data column that can change with a dropdown menu, can any one help

I download a template which does it but cant make heads or tails out of the formula required

What I need is a table which picks up data from a master table (Jan-Dec Financial Data) but has the ability to change months when selected from a dropdown box

I have a large document, Row 1 is blank, Row 2 is a heading I want for the first page only, Row 3 is the description for each column, that is always the first line as you review the document from the computer. I want to print the document and have this ROW #3 show up at the top of each page printed - I am having trouble making this work. GREG
  • I downloaded the template and, after unprotecting the Financial Report sheet, could see that SelectedYear drop-down was a list sourced from the lstYears range.  lstYears is a convoluted dynamic range (i.e. it uses the OFFSET function to define itself) which boils down to C5:I5 on the Financial Data Input sheet.  Why they didn't just define the range name directly is beyond me!

If you change the headings in lstYears to month names the SelectedYear drop-down will let you choose from the month names.

You may want to change the range names to lstMonths and SelectedMonth to eliminate confusion.

"As an example if you download  (new from template) excel sheet its the annual financial report template, this is the only sheet I could find that allows me to change data of the drop down"

My Office is in German. So there is no template named "annual financial report" and therefore I can't follow you problem.

I guess you will have to wait for someone with Office in English.
