how do I stop all my excel files from being saved to the OneDrive
I don't want to open my files in OneDrive and all my Excel files are being opened that way. How do I stop this?
Trying to add text in the header and footer and with the OneDrive you cannot access the Header or footer and when I try and open Excel on the desktop one it still does not work.
I have all these files that I work on and they are driving me crazy because I cannot do what I use to do before this OneDrive thing invaded!

- tobythomasCopper ContributorTo prevent Excel files from saving to OneDrive, avoid opening them directly from OneDrive. Instead, open Excel from the desktop application, not the online version, to access header and footer options. This approach should prevent automatic saving to OneDrive and allow you to work on your files without interference from the OneDrive integration.

actually a slight mod to NikolinoDE #4 - you now also have to check the "Save to computer by default" box right about the location field mentioned.
That said, this is all only slightly less annoying. A lot of times I'm modifying an existing workbook and would prefer to SaveAs right back to the folder from which I opened the orginal. In other words, how it used to work. It's easier to nav to Documents or some other default location from various points deeper within your file tree, than vice versa. So stop "helping" me!
Do we speak about Excel Desktop or Excel for web?

If you want to stop your Excel files from being automatically saved to OneDrive, you can follow these steps in Office 365:
- Open Excel: Launch Microsoft Excel.
- Click on "File": In the upper left corner of the Excel window, click on the "File" tab. This will open the Backstage view.
- Select "Options": In the Backstage view, click on "Options" at the bottom of the navigation pane. This will open the Excel Options window.
- Go to "Save" Options:
- In the Excel Options window, click on the "Save" tab on the left-hand side.
- Change the Default Save Location:
- Under the "Save workbooks" section, you will see a field labeled "Default local file location."
- Click in this field and browse to the location on your local computer where you want your Excel files to be saved by default. This location can be a local folder or any location on your computer.
- After selecting the desired local folder, click the "OK" button to save the changes.
- Close and Restart Excel:
- Close the Excel Options window.
- Close Excel and then reopen it.
Now, when you create or save Excel files, they should be saved to the location you specified on your local computer instead of automatically saving to OneDrive.
Please note that these steps are specific to configuring the default save location for Excel files on your computer. OneDrive integration in Office 365 can be managed separately. If you also want to adjust how OneDrive interacts with your Office applications, you can review OneDrive settings in your Office 365 account or contact your IT administrator for assistance with OneDrive configuration.

- bussy73Copper ContributorThank you for all this information but when I go to File and Options the only thing that is showing in Options is "Regional Format Settings". I just need the OneDrive to stop changing my Excel files every time I open one! This is very frustrating. Thanks for your help but I do not have the tabs and locations you are speaking of.
Apparently you are using Excel Online (the browser version).
Try starting the desktop version of Excel (the locally installed version), and opening your workbooks from within the desktop version.
