Having trouble editing cell that has shape formatting in Excel

some cells show shape format and will not allow me to edit the cell normally. how do I disable shape format for cells?

    Hi

    There is a shortcut for hiding All Floating shapes in the worksheet (Shapes, Charts, Pictures...) so if you hide them you will be able to format the cell underneath. The shortcut is CTRL +6

    By the way, it's a toggle shortcut.

    I expect there is a shape placed on top of those cells. Just click on the shape and hit the Del key should get rid of it, unless those shapes are in fact activeX controls.
