Gridlines become dotted after color change, how do I make them smooth/solid again?

When I try to change the color of the gridlines, the lines automatically become dotted, rather than the usual smooth non-dotted gridlines.

Just to be clear, the problem is not with borders, page breaks, or print areas.

It's the actual gridlines that become dotted, after a gridline color change in the advanced options.
