Goal seek not giving the answer

But does the same "simple addition" model and GS parameters fail in non-safe (normal) mode?
You must use the same "model" (related formulas) and GS parameters in both safe and non-safe mode in order for us to know if safe mode works around the problem.

You should be checking the add-ins when you start Excel in non-safe (normal) mode.
(My version of Excel shows, IMHO, an ambiguous list of add-ins in safe mode. Hopefully that has been changed in recent versions of Excel.)
At the very least, typically the Solver add-in is in the active list in non-safe mode. So I would be surprise if all of your add-ins are in the inactive list in non-safe mode.
IIRC, some users report that a COM add-in caused the problem. I did not make note of which one. The only one that I have is the bluetooth add-in.
And one user reported that a particular third-party add-in caused the problem. Again, I did not make note of which one. IIRC, it was specific to the operation of his business.

Looking at some "hits" from a google search, one user claims to have worked around a (different) problem with Goal Seek by selecting the "set cell"(?) or "by changing cell"(?) before clicking OK to start Goal Seek.
It is unclear which one. But it should be straightforward to try both (separately, of course).
Goal Seek did not work with the simple addition formula when Not in Safe-Mode.
I'll have to play around with adding add-ins into the active list & see how that works.
The work around, though not an ideal solution is intriguing just to know if it works. So, I want to give it a try too.
- From another online forum, I found out that my iteration (set at 1000) should have been smaller. I put it back to the default of 0,001 and voila! Goal Seek is back working its magic.
- So, I don't have any add-ins active Safe-Mode or not. Activating all of the add-ins had no affect. And trying multiple different patterns with goal seek to see if I had a work around was also not successful.
