Gathering from an Index

I just recently started really using Excel as a way to keep track of my trading card collection. What I would like to do is create a decklist that automatically gathers information from an Index I have created (A separate file). What I would like it to do specifically, is to check if the name of the card is in the document. If it is, I want it to show to info from a different column, but same row. If not, I want it to display 0. I have a basic knowledge of if then statements, but the things I have tried are not seeming to work. I apologize if this is not a new topic, I just couldn't find anything when I looked

    The VLOOKUP function is probably the simplest way to achieve what you need. Plenty of how-tos available if you google for it.
